TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
Alzheimer’s Disease and Behavioral Neuroscience Research Fellowship

The UCLA Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center sponsors a two-year fellowship in dementia and behavioral neuroscience research. The fellowship emphasizes research in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and related degenerative disorders. The program has particular strengths in clinical trials, neuropsychiatric assessment, neuropsychological evaluation (particularly executive dysfunction) and neuroimaging. Research opportunities are available in clinical trials, neuroimaging, neuropathology, molecular biology, and a variety of related research areas. Courses in research design methodology and neuroscience seminars complete the academic curriculum. The program emphasizes acquisition of research skills and is most appropriate for individuals intending a career in academic neurology, academic geriatric psychiatry, or industry. UCLA provides a rich research environment with faculty strengths in many neuroscience areas. The program is directed by Jeffrey L. Cummings, MD, Director of the UCLA Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and the Deane F. Johnson Center for Neurotherapeutics. Additional faculty members include George Bartzokis, MD, John Ringman, MD, Liana Apostolova, MD, Po Lu, PsyD and others.

Interested individuals should direct a letter of inquiry to Dr. Cummings. The application process consists of a letter defining the individual’s interests and three letters of recommendation from persons familiar with him/her. A visit to UCLA is highly recommended and is influential in the candidate decision process. Salary and benefits are competitive with other instructor level positions in the nation.
